Learn some of our philosophies.
What is marketing?
Marketing is simply fulfilling a need and all the related activities. Marketing starts with a thorough understanding of your key stakeholders’ underlying needs.
How to have a monopoly?
Your community/social network is your marketplace. If stakeholders know, love, and trust you, then all you have to do is make your offerings more effective, convenient, and affordable than alternative options.
Why do businesses fail?
Most small businesses fail from a lack of intellectual capital optimization more so than from a lack of financial capital, especially in overlooked and under-served segments.
What about innovation?
The greatest problems present the greatest opportunities to innovate, thus the premise of Ujamaa Solutions.
Here is our profile.
In the last 3-4 years, in Atlanta alone, our systems have directly helped clients collectively generate over $3 million in sales, close over 170,000 transactions, and grow at a rate of over 180% while boasting a stakeholder referral rating of over 90%. Moreover, dozens of sustainable jobs and many small community-based businesses were created in the process. Can you imagine the value our experience can create for you?
Ujamaa Solutions LLC was created in 2011 in Atlanta by Mark Pegues, a Pan-Afrikanist, business strategist, innovator, and influencer. Currently our firm is in the early-growth stage and financially stable.
Resources & Core Competences
Our key resources are our people (our collective commitment, competencies, and connections), information, technology (the UjaMap), tools/workspace, brand, and partnerships. In other words, we’re an intellectual capital-based business and our people are our most valuable asset. As a result, we are able to “design” our own opportunities.
Our core competencies (unique resources and distinctive capabilities) include our ability to research, innovate, and practice sustainable entrepreneurship. By sustainable entrepreneurship, we mean entrepreneurship in harmony with our people, the planet, and profits.
Though Ujamaa Solutions is proudly located in Atlanta, our firm is designed as a virtual/digital (not bound by geography) organization. We operate within our social network, using the cloud. This means our core team can be small but still operate globally as a market leader within our niche. Our leadership style is situation-based, but is typically a meritocracy. Legally we’re structured as a LLC taxed as a S-corp. Our reward system is based on the value we create for key stakeholders.
Our culture is Ujamaa, which means collaborating (in efficient ways) to build and own sustainable businesses and reinvest the profits/surplus/earnings within our community. We’re known for being committed and effective at building sustainable Pan-Afrikan brands. Our rituals include sharing thoughtful, helpful, inspiring, necessary, and kind content via social media that promotes Pan-Afrikan culture and economics.
Our vibe is Pan-Afrikan, strategic, innovative, and professional. We are passionate about helping clients focus and win. We desire to break knowledge, skills, access, economic, time, and other barriers in order to on-ramp clients to today’s and tomorrow’s digital economy as producers and owners, not just consumers. In other words, we plan to ensure our people have equity in this fourth industrial revolution.
Feel our story.
Organized in 2011 by its founder, president, and chief strategist, Mark Pegues, Ujamaa Solutions has its roots in information technology.
From the beginning, Mark was designing websites but became frustrated with the lack of professional content clients would provide. After working with dozens of clients to design their Websites and intranets, Mark realized it was difficult to optimize Websites without first optimizing their businesses. Helping clients with content became so challenging that Mark decided to find and fix the bottleneck.
Well, the bottleneck was that content is based on your marketing plan, marketing plans are based on business models, and business models are based on business strategies. Based on the premise that your Website is a reflection of your business, Mark concluded that clients needed far more than just websites. They needed marketing plans, business models, and strategic plans.
The challenge was that SEO (search engine optimization) was virtually impossible without good content and good content comes from thorough business planning, specifically marketing plans. Unfortunately, most small businesses tend not to have any of that. Realizing Websites are reflections of their organizations, Mark decided to pivot and focus on helping clients with strategic planning, business model design, and marketing planning. That made Web design easier. His logic was that in order to optimize a Website, a business had to first be optimized. This was essentially the birth of the idea and concept that developed into Ujamaa Solutions.
Today, Ujamaa Solutions is a leading strategy and innovation firm working with a world-class team dedicated to building sustainable Pan-Afrikan organizations. Ujamaa Solutions has earned a reputation for not only being committed, intelligent, and thorough, but also a smart investment.
